Dr.Sanjaya Acharya is a Senior Research Fellow at CGED-Nepal. Previously, he worked as the Professor of Economics at Ritsumeikan University, Shiga, Japan and before that Associate Professor of Economics at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Sanjaya also led several research projects at New ERA, Kathmandu, from 1995 to 2011, along with several independent consulting assignments. He holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, and two doctorate degrees – one from Hokkaido University, Japan, and another from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He received the European Association for Comparative Economics Society (EACES) bi-annual best doctoral dissertation award for the years 2006-2007. He is the author of the book Pro-poor Growth and Liberalization in Developing Economies published by Routledge in 2012. Moreover, he has authored about two dozens of articles published in high level peer-reviewed international journals, including Economic Systems, Economic Modelling, Journal of Policy Modelling, Journal of Economic Policy Reforms, European Journal of Development Research and Socio-economic Planning Sciences. He is the EACES Newsletter Editor and reviewer of many international journals. Sanjaya possesses a wide range of experience working with many international development organisations: these include several UN organisations, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, DFID, GIZ, JICA and others. His specialisation is in analysing socio-economic reforms in developing countries and their impacts on the livelihood of poor people, private sector development, gender and empowerment.

Dr. Mohan Wagley, a Nepalese national is a Watershed Management Expert. Dr. Wagley holds a PhD in Watershed Management from Forest Research Institutute, Dehradun, India and a Master’s degree in Range Management from Colorado State University, USA. He served in Government of Nepal over 32 years and has held various key positions in Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation.

Dr. Adhikari is an environmental policy expert having more than 20 years of experience in the areas of natural resource management, sustainable consumption and production, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services, climate change adaptation, sustainable land management/catchment management, environmental impact assessment, and environmental policy formulation and governance. During his three decades of service in the Government of Nepal (GoN), he served in senior positions as National Programme Manager, Project Chief, at the Ministry of Population and Environment and Department of Soil Conservation and Watershed Management. Mr. Adhikari took voluntary retirement from the GoN at the capacity of Joint Secretary. While serving in the civil service of the GoN, he has represented Nepal in many international forums, conferences and intergovernmental meeting related to environment. He has implemented many environmental conservation projects and has experience of working with diverse donors and international agencies like Intergovernmental Science Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), Asian Development Bank (ADB) United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and Australian Aid for International Development (AusAID). He served as National Programme Manager (NPM) in the Pilot Project for Climate Resilience (PPCR), a joint undertaking between Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Nepal.
Dr. Adhikari served three years (2013-2015) as a Bureau Member of the Intergovernmental Science Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), an intergovernmental body which assesses the state of biodiversity and of the ecosystem services, representing Asia Pacific region, whose mission is to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human well-being and sustainable development. He is also involved supervising Msc students in Environmental Science/Management at the Tribhuvan University and Pokhara University, Nepal. He has aslo published papers and have attended numerous international seminar and conferences on above mention subjects. At present he is Promoter and Senior Research Fellow at CGED- Nepal, a joint private and civil society knowledge based company.
Dr. Adhikari has been decorated with the ‘Nepal Academic Award Medal ‘A” by the Right Honourable President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on 8 September, 2012 on the occasion of International Literacy Day and National Education Day. He also received Developing Australian Capacity in South Asia (DACSA) Fellowship awarded by AusAID for the study of PhD and Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) to undertake Master’s Degree in ITC, the Netherlands.
